Recap written by Betty Crackher

The ladies of Pike's Peak Derby Dames traveled from Colorado Springs, CO to duke it out with Wasatch Roller Derby's Midnight Terror in their first sanctioned bout since February. The evening was chilly but sunny as fans of both teams filled the Derby Depot, each hoping to see their team take come away victorious. Each team was stoic, but quite prepared as the first jam whistle blew.

Starting off were Wasatch's Alli3 Kitt3n jamming against Pike's Peak's Pepper Slay. Both jammers sliced through the pack, but it was Alli3 who took lead jammer and started Wasatch off with the lead.
In fact, it wasn't until several jams into the half that Pike's Peak was able to score any points. Fortunately, Pike's Peak took advantage of a power jam situation and racked up 15 points, effectively changing the lead.

It was short lived, however, as Harry Slaughter immediately found herself in a power jam afterward and took the lead. By half, the score was 87 Wasatch 50 Pike's Peak.

Youthlinc was responsible for the halftime show, and it brought several members of Mountain Boarders. These gentlemen did all sorts of tricks and flips on their beefed up skateboards that had the spectators whistling and cheering almost as much as they do for their derby team.

The rest of the seats had filled by the time halftime was over. Alli3 Kitt3n and Pepper Slay faced off yet again for the start of the second half. Alli3 took lead jammer again within seconds of Pepper Slay snapping a truck, which effectively put her out for a couple of jams. This left Alli3 able to easily rack up another 24 points.

At some point during the game, Flygrrl Mel ended up fouling out of the game, leaving Wasatch without its hard-hitting soul stealer.  The second half put the jammers of both teams through their paces with power jam after power jam that usually ended up switching halfway through a jam.

Pike's Peak tried to take back their once-held lead, but Moonraker and Harry Slaughter hung onto their points and jammer panties as they brought home point after point. Skull Candi made her debut jams of the season after undergoing shoulder surgery a few months ago.

After all of the power jams, and several lengthy timeouts exhaustion had begun to set in.

But Pike's Peak's jammer Kamilla Bloodspilla came through with one more 24 point power jam that let the final score rest at 183 Wasatch 148 Pike's Peak.

Both teams gave it their all and showcased a game that had spectators screaming and cheering the entire time. Nice work, ladies!
