Season Opener Recap

"Out & A-Bout with Dick & Jane" is the annual battle between Wasatch Roller Derby’s Midnight Terror and the men of Uinta Madness Roller Derby.

In this year’s battle of the sexes the men were looking for redemption. With their new full roster they fought hard and found a more unified strategy. Due to heavy jammer penalties in the first half UMRD found it difficult to shut out MT jammers Moon Raker, Alli3 Kitt3n, and Harry Slaughter, allowing the women to start with strong lead.

Hard hits, fast pace, and fresh strategy kept the packed Derby Depot cheering for more.

During the second half the men stepped up their game. Thanks to high point power jams by Milk Toast Boy and team captain Uel Lose they were able to narrow an 80-point lead.

Despite the hard push from Uinta Madness, the women claimed victory. Final score 153-92.

Congrats MT. Next year boys.

Much Love,
PS

Both teams are looking forward to an exciting year. At the beginning of February, the Midnight Terror and the Uinta Madness will be competing in the Big O tournament in Oregon. But you can catch more derby action when Wasatch’s home teams, the Hot Wheelers and Black Diamond Divas, face off for their first bout of the year on Saturday, Feb. 18, 7 p.m. at the Derby Depot (1415 S. 700 West).

Special thanks to the local band Baby Ghosts for their great halftime show, the Refs, NSOs and Events committee for all of their hard work, and especially all of the Roller Derby friends, families, and fans that filled the warehouse!

Also a special shout-out to our #1 fan, Happy Birthday Joey!
