Improved strategy and teamwork from the Black Diamond Divas and Hot Wheelers made for an intense game. During the first half BDD jammer Bruiser Ego impressed fans with her ability to break through four-blocker HW walls and slip through holes.
Hot Wheelers achieved lead jammer status repeatedly but had a hard time shutting out Diva jammers close on their tails.
Half time score:
Half time show featured Uinta Madness men jumping obstacles, skaters, and audience members!
Halftime also spotlighted the local charity Camp Hobe.
Did You Know Proceeds (40% of net ticket sales) for this Bout went directly to Camp Hobé, an annual summer camp for kids with cancer and their siblings. Camp Hobé is administered and run almost entirely by volunteers, and has served children throughout the Intermountain West for more than 25 years. Their mission is to create an atmosphere that enhances self-esteem, fosters independence and friendships, and offers a sense of belonging. Camp Hobé allows these kids dealing with cancer a chance to just be kids. For more information about the program, visit the Camp Hobé website at www.camphobekids.org.
During the second half Hot Wheelers stepped up their game and fiercely chased down the point gap. With stronger walls and defense Wheelers were able to hold back the Divas and achieve some high point power jams.
With just seconds left Hot Wheeler Clam Jammer narrowed the score to a measly 5 point lead!
Due to a mix up between officials and BDD, the Divas had an extra skater on the track during the last jam which lead to a controversial conclusion. Unfortunately without the refs calling off the jam or time left on the clock, the rules determined nothing could be done to redo the last jam.
Final score:
Amount donated to Camp Hobé: $1148 in WRD ticket sales, $250 in additional audience donations!!!
